Designing a Resilient Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) Strategy for Education
Charles Uche Emenugha

Managing endpoints typically includes setting up and distributing new and/or previously used devices, troubleshooting and resolving issues, deploying, and managing applications, pushing updates and patches, and ensuring the entire infrastructure is secure and optimally functional. IT teams spend most of their time managing and maintaining these devices for staff, faculty and students and are tasked with ensuring optimal performance, stability, and security of the overall infrastructure. Determining the right endpoint management solution requires considering how these devices will be used, by whom and where. Unfortunately, these are also the factors that make the device vulnerable. The education sector is one of the most prone to cybersecurity attacks alongside government and healthcare, and ranked as the least secure amongst all sectors, with 87% of educational institutions having experienced at least one attack. Schools are considered the second most lucrative target for ransomware. For this presentation, I shall be defining the concept of Unified Endpoint Management (UEM), talking through its advancements referencing the Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), as well as taking the audience through its capabilities covering Compliance Policy, Endpoint Security, Conditional Access, Device and Application Management.

Charles Uche Emenugha is a Cloud Solution Architect – Engineer with the Customer Service Unit of Microsoft Education and specializes in Modern Management (Intune) and Office Apps. Charles has over 12 years of experience designing, implementing and managing Microsoft 365 modern work solutions across the commercial sector, especially healthcare. Charles joined Microsoft in June this year and is strongly driven by his passion for Education.
